Music Ministry

Music Ministry

Our Music Ministry is a very important and intentional aspect of life at St. Paul's. Week by week in our worship experiences and community life, you can be exposed to an eclectic and intentional diversity and richness of music seldom matched in other congregations.

Musical groups which include the Chancel Choir, Joyful Voices, the Afternoon Handbells, the Afternoon Singers, and the Holy Ukuleles provide participants with opportunities for advanced musical training and spiritual growth in faith. If you have a musical talent that you are willing to share please advise Fredric as we enjoy a variety of music every Sunday.

Our choirs are always happy to welcome new members at any time of the year. If you like to sing or want your child to learn a musical instrument, please contact our Minister of Music, Fredric DeVries at fredbill@sympatico.ca

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir gathers on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 8:45 pm and before church on Sundays at 9:15 am.

They present anthems most Sundays, as well as presenting Candlelight Noel, a Service of Lessons and Carols in December and participate in the Musical Showcase in March. Some music reading skill is helpful, but a love of singing together is essential.

We'd love to have you join us.

Holy Ukuleles

The Holy Ukuleles of St. Paul's is a group of exuberant young people from six to thirteen years of age who get together every Thursday from 6:30 to 7:15 pm in the YCC room. The group is now led by a special Guest Musician, Chris Eckert   with the assistance of Fredric DeVries and Sheelagh Wood.

Although some of the young people have their own ukuleles, we also supply ukuleles to those who wish to participate. These are in a variety of bright colours and go well with our bold, gold Holy Ukulele t-shirts. We also play boomwhackers with great gusto and enthusiasm and celebrate holidays with cupcakes and games.
